I've been down most of the week with allergies/asthma issues, only running once on Thursday. That was an easy run of 4.25 miles at a 10:17 pace.
Today, I had not planned to repeat my PR from last week, and it's a good thing. I was well below my time from last week. Honestly, I was happy just to finish. It was very, very hot. I am just not used to the heat yet. I know it will get easier, but today was tough.
It was great to see everyone out there. A really smashing bunch of people that support the running community. Several of my neighbors were there as well, probably because the neighborhood elementary school, David Elementary, is where the idea for this race was born years ago. I remember hoping that one day, I would be able to run this race. Last year I had bronchitis so I couldn't run even though I was registered. Today, I ran so that I could say I had. Well, it wasn't pretty, but I ran it.
Total Time: 29:08 (chip); Total Mileage: 3.1 miles; Avg. Pace: 9:24; Avg HR: Garmin battery dead, no splits, no HR.
Mile 1: 8:40 (from gun time)

Now it's time for some serious training!

I was commenting to someone at the gym on Thursday that the air quality was really bad (in my opinion) and I could hardly breathe.
I wonder if people w/o asthma can recognize the change in the weather; the woman I was talking to didn't seem to notice at all but it was very noticeable to me.
Good time, for sure! It was a great run, it'll toughen ya up for the impending summer! Good time!
ick...too hot!
